Grading scales
Continuous assessment carries 60% of the total grade and the final examination 40%.
Standing and progression
Academic standing. A student is in good academic standing while maintaining a cumulative Grade Point Average of 70%, conducting their personal life with spiritual and moral integrity, and meeting all financial obligations to the school.
Probation. Any student who fails to maintain a cumulative GPA of 50% is placed on probation from the following term. On probation, a student may not take more than 15 credit hours.
Resits and retakes. A student who fails a course either resits or retakes it. Resits are organised in the succeeding semester during the mid-semester examination week, at a fee of 5,000 FCFA. A resit grade may not exceed 70%.
Duration of study. The B.A. runs three years and the M.A. two or three, but students are allowed up to six years to complete. No student may continue beyond these limits.
Absences. A student may not miss more than six class hours in a semester. Absences are measured in hours, not days, and those caused by medical emergencies still count. Being late three times counts as one absence.
Academic dishonesty. Cheating in an examination earns a zero for that exam or part of the course, and academic counselling. Extensive plagiarism may result in an outright fail, and repeated instances go to the disciplinary committee.
Theses, projects and graduation
All students of the Dip.Th. programme and above submit a doctrinal statement before graduation. Students in the B.A. and M.A. programmes write a thesis or carry out a project worth six credit hours.
Graduation is in June. Students are approved when they show evidence of consistent Christian growth, complete all required courses and field work, settle all financial obligations with the Bursary, and complete their thesis or project. At the beginning of the final term students file an Intent to Graduate form, and a week before graduation a Graduation Approval Form.
